1. Who we are

NZ Citizenship Calculator is operated by Grana Solutions Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”). This tool helps New Zealand permanent residents estimate when they may be eligible to apply for citizenship. We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

2. What information we collect

We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide the service:

Email address — collected only when you make a payment, so we can restore your data if needed.
Residency grant date — the date you entered when using the calculator.
Overseas trip dates and descriptions — entered voluntarily by paid users to calculate precise eligibility.
Payment information — we do not store your card details. Payments are processed by Stripe, who handle all payment data securely.

We do not collect your name, passport number, or any government identity information.

3. How we store your data

Browser storage (all users) — your residency date and trip data are saved in your browser's local storage so you can return to your calculation without re-entering everything. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted unless you make a payment.
Database (paid users only) — if you purchase detailed calculations, your email, residency date, and trip data are stored in our secure database hosted on Vercel so you can restore your data from any device using your email.

4. How we use your information

We use your information solely to:

Perform and display the citizenship eligibility calculation
Allow you to save and restore your data across sessions (paid users)
Verify and record payment via Stripe

We do not use your data for marketing, profiling, or any purpose other than providing the calculator service.

5. Third-party service providers

We share data with the following third parties only to the extent necessary to operate the service:

Stripe — payment processing. Stripe is PCI-DSS compliant and handles all card data. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
Vercel — cloud hosting and database. Your data is stored on servers managed by Vercel in accordance with their Privacy Policy.

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any other third parties.

6. Data retention

Browser local storage data remains on your device until you clear your browser data or use the tool on a different device. Database records for paid users are retained for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service. You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.

7. Your rights (NZ Privacy Act 2020)

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:

Request access to the personal information we hold about you
Request correction of any inaccurate information
Request deletion of your information

8. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. All data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS. Database access is restricted and secured. However, no internet transmission is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the calculator after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
